We are a non-profit organization established in 1849, dedicated to preserving Scottish heritage through various forms such as arts, customs, dress, literature, and national games. The Ceilidh event, hosted by the St. Andrew's Society of Detroit, is a leading Scottish concert in Metro Detroit. It serves as a kick-off party and concert for our Annual Highland Games, taking place on the Games field the night before. Scottish heavy athletics have their origins in Highland warriors, who would compete with everyday objects to stay fit between battles. The Heavy Athletics event at Greenmead attracts top professional athletes from across the country, including National and World champions.
