Australasian Aquaculture 2012 has been the premier aquaculture event in the Asia Pacific region for almost a decade now. The inaugural Australasian Aquaculture Conference and Trade Show, hosted by NSW Fisheries took place in 2004 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. Since then, the event has been held biennially in capital cities near the major aquaculture production regions of Australia. Skretting Australasian Aquaculture 2012 will take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the only 6 Star Green Star Convention Centre in the world. As usual the Executive Committee is dedicated to offering new initiatives, a stimulating Program and ample networking opportunities. Australasian Aquaculture; now hosted and managed by the National Aquaculture Council (NAC), and partnered by the World Aquaculture Society, Asian Pacific Chapter, has continued to gain momentum across the years and looks set to continue to do so as it heads towards World Aquaculture in 2014. World Aquaculture will be hosted by the city of Adelaide. A city and state that is renowned for the manufacture of high quality aquaculture produce. The Adelaide Convention Centre was ecstatic to ‘Land Aquaculture’s Big Fish’, with the four-day event estimated to see 3000 visitors and 200 exhibitors from around the globe in attendance. With the 2012 theme of ‘The Next Ten Years’, the upcoming Conference and Trade Show will focus on the future direction of the aquaculture industry over the next ten years and will celebrate the industry’s environmentally sustainable credentials. Who knows what lays at the other end of the aquaculture rainbow…maybe a ‘pot’ of seafood gold?
