This training is for new and prospective foster care parents, covering child welfare, the system, key professionals, and the child's experience coming into foster care. The course compares traditional foster care with the safe families approach. Participants gain an understanding of the system and children within it, earning 8 hours of credit toward certification and recertification, as well as the annual training requirement. Lunch is included.
Participate in an interactive session of storytelling, singing, rhyming, and play for children aged 19-36 months and their caregivers. It's a lively and educational way to promote early literacy.

Prepare for childbirth by learning important information about labor and delivery. This course covers topics such as body preparation, medical procedures, labor support, cesarean delivery, and postpartum. The course is recommended for those who are around 28-32 weeks into their pregnancy. It is a two-day program held on consecutive Saturdays. Bring pillows, a blanket or yoga mat, and expectant partners are encouraged to attend together. The classes take place at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla Schaetzel Center, Lower Level Noble. Parking in Lot A is available and will be validated.

Onchocerciasis, also known as "river blindness", is a neglected tropical disease caused by the Onchocerca volvulus worm and transmitted through blackfly bites. Approximately 20.9 million people worldwide are infected, with 99% in sub-Saharan Africa. Recent evidence suggests a link between onchocerciasis and epilepsy, with an estimated 200-400,000 people in SSA living with the preventable condition OAE.
